Me and a lighthouse on Khao Takiab beach

Down south of Hua Hin Beach is home to Khao Takiab Beach – a modern and peaceful area. This place is more low-key than the busy area of Hua Hin Beach with mostly high-end and resort-type accommodations with a price starting from 900 THB/night. If you keep searching with keen eyes, you can also find some cheap hotel options.

This area is quite narrow and close to the main road, so it is easy to find and access to the beach. Despite the narrow place, there are many restaurant options in this area including Thai and western ones for you to choose from. One of our favorites is La Mer restaurant which is a sea-front seafood restaurant with a perfect view of the ocean. It is worth noting that there is a market in this area where you can buy seafood and some good snack in this market as well.

Khao Takiab area is also close to some temples, so it is convenient for you to enjoy the beach and visit the attractions at the same time. If you don’t want to go to the beach, a walk to the nearby temple is also great and tranquil.

To get to Khao Takieb from the train station or the bus station, you need to take a taxi as the distance is quite far. Do note that there are fewer transportation options in the Khao Takiab area, it is best if you rent your own car or motorbike to go to this area. Later, you can use your vehicle to get around Khao Takiab and visit the area.

With the lack of nightlife and mid-range and luxury accommodations, Khao Takiab may not be an ideal “where to stay in Hua Hin” for backpackers or low-budget travelers. This area would be a great place for couples, family travelers, and mid-range travelers who want to enjoy a quiet escape from city life.

Mangrove forest in Pran Buri Area

Further to the south of the Khao Takiab area is Pranburi Beach area which is approximately kilometers from Hua Hin. This area is close to Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park and Pran Buri Forest Park () making it an amazing place for adventure travelers. Many people choose this area, so they can easily approach the national park and visit the stunning Phra Nakhon Cave.

This area is quite similar to Khao Takiab in terms of accommodation choices. However, the price for luxury hotels and resorts are much nicer than in Khao Takiab. There are few backpacker-friendly hotels on Pran Buri and few options for dining, shopping, and nightlife, so do check the location of your accommodation carefully as you may spend most of your time there.

To get to Pranburi Hua Hin bus station or train station, a taxi or driving car would be the best way. However, if you want to take your motorbike to use it later to discover the nearby areas, it could be also a good choice, but please be careful and wear a helmet.

In short, if you are into exploring nature, Pran Buri is your perfect match.

Cha Am Beach

Up to the north of Hua Hin is located Cha-am Area which is actually in Phetchaburi Province. This area is normally overlooked by foreigners. It is a combination of mostly luxury hotels and a few choices of affordable hotels.

This place is home to Cha-Am beach which is a long and family-friendly beach. Most of the resorts and villas embrace the beach making it rarely crowded in a specific place making it a perfect place for a quiet getaway with your family. You can lie on the beach watching your kids play around. Moreover, you may see some fishing boats preparing for an upcoming trip and fresh seafood along the beach area.
