Wat Asokaram – a must-visit temple near Bangkok
Located in Samut Prakan, Wat Asokaram is a great place to get away from the busy life of Bangkok. This temple was built in 1962. It is an important spot for practicing meditation or walking around it under the cozy treetops. Opening from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, the temple welcomes all guests at no cost.

How to get to Wat Asokaram?
You can simply drive along Sukhumvit Road in your car or motorbike. As the entrance is on the right side of the road, you need to take a U-turn to reach it.
If you do not wanna drive/ride your motorbike, you can take a BTS to KheHa Station, then take a motorbike taxi, a taxi, a bus or walk to the temple. The place is about 3 kilometers from the BTS station.
What to expect in Wat Asokaram?
The highlight of this place is Phra Thutangkha Chedi – a group of 13 stupas (chedis) that represent 13 duties of a monk during any religious trip.
Opposite to the chedi lies the main hall of Wat Asokaram where Buddhists meditate and chant. You can take a walk around the area and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere because there are many trees here.
When to visit Wat Asokaram?
As the temple opens from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, you can visit it anytime during these hours. However, if you want to attend the chanting, the best time to visit is around 8:30 – 10:00 AM.
