Bangkok cabs charge baggage fees from 17 Nov 2020

As outlined in the Royal Thai Government Gazette official announcement, starting from 17 Nov 2020, Bangkok taxi passengers will be charged for their baggage, which is applied for trips from and to the airport.

To collect these kinds of fees, Bangkok cabs had to register in the Bangkok area.

Baggage items applied include bikes, boxes, sports equipment, musical instruments, and luggage, etc… except for personal luggage such as purses, laptop bags, handbags, backpacks; and other aids for disabilities, the elders, or hospital patients such as wheelchairs and crutches.

The fees are different among baggage shapes and sizes.

Items of baggage in length or width between 26 inches to 49.99 inches are applied to a charge of up to 20THB/item.

Items of baggage in length or width from 50 inches are applied to a charge of up to 100THB/item.

To void these charges once hopping on a taxi, commuters can try to pack their luggage in 2 small items because the charge of up to 20THB/item will be applied for the third piece onward.

Especially, the driver has to inform passengers about these fees before the trip starts.
